Executive Advisory Board Recruiting
We are told by many of our executives within the ABA Consortium that they are constantly being asked to serve on corporate boards and advisory boards and have served on many. These executives have concerns about the liability of a corporate board perspective and having to control a CEO who may be a loose cannon. They have for the most part also been unimpressed with the loose structure of joining an advisory board position as they feel underutilized and that their advice is often not taken or if it is they are never advised of the outcome. In many cases they feel as though their name is being put on a website and they may be called every once in a while for some valuable advice with no tangible results.
Joining An Advisory Board
Advisory Board Architects has designed its process for executive advisory board recruiting to eliminate these issues by maintaining and managing the advisory board per our proprietary methodology which will allow our consortium the following:
- A formalized structure around joining an advisory board including time commitments, compensation expectations and accountability to and from our client.
- A process in knowing what expertise is needed by the organization and the outcomes of your advice.
- A long term relationship with the client and the ability make an impact on the growth of an organization and watch it move to the next level and participate in the profit of that growth.
- We offer public corporate officers and senior-level executives protected access to exclusive companies and various industry relationships and opportunities.
- The ability to leverage your expertise in a short forum setting to help a company through its due diligence process on a potential acquisition or product launch.
As part of our service to the executives within our Consortium we can also "vet" any board opportunities that are presented to you outside of the ABA client list and give you a very clear indication if your time and expertise will be utilized in a manner consistent with your position. This is done as part of being in our Consortium and there is no charge for this service.
Why It's Different Than Joining a Board of Directors
We offer public corporate officers and senior-level executives protected access to exclusive companies and various industry relationships and opportunities. Joining an advisory board is different than joining a board of directors as the liability and fiduciary responsibility concerns are minimized.
Most senior executives face the challenge of needing to stay abreast of applicable technology developments with limited bandwidth to qualify these potentials. In addition, any interactions with emerging companies are bound by vendor/supplier relationship and corporate policy. Still, the need to "stay connected" remains. ABA understands these dynamics well and has removed these barriers through the creation of our ABA Consortium.
An ABA advisor is a top industry executive who views ABA as a channel for intermittent access to companies that impact their business domain. By design, the relationship between an advisor and ABA is informal and transparent to the public. This enables our advisors to connect with new or growing companies within our portfolio and industry in a flexible and confidential manner. The relationship with a specific ABA client company scales according to the advisor's specific desires, abilities and time commitments. Potential outcomes of engagement include early investment awareness, career opportunity, competitive data, equity, customer or partner relationships, and networking with other advisors and industry counterparts.
