About Our Advisory Board Consultants

Advisory Board Architects (ABA) was launched in December 2005 at the request of many regional executives who relocated from other parts of the country. This new C-level talent in Colorado was anxious to help emerging growth companies succeed but did not want the liability that comes from a board of directors position, nor did they want to give up their corporate job. They also wanted to be assured that their experience, advice and time would be well utilized as an advisory board consultant providing executive consulting in Colorado. ABA was designed with a simple, quantifiable charter: Surround strong fast growing companies with executives that have an expertise in their industry or can provide insight into a vertical that accelerates the revenue cycle and decreases the risk factor. We achieve this by:

  • Leveraging the networks of regional executives to recruit new companies to the Rocky Mountain region.
  • Leveraging the expertise of regional executives to build/grow new and emerging companies in the Rocky Mountain region.
  • Leveraging the expertise of executives to turn regional companies into acquirers, not targets for acquisition.
  • Provide opportunities to C-Level executives in Colorado and successful entrepreneurs who are committed to the Rocky Mountain region and desire to contribute to the economic, civic, and non-profit community.

On behalf of our clients, ABA engages empowered executives for the purpose of:

  • Strategic Decisions
  • Strategic Business Development
  • Strategic Introductions (Clients, Alliance Partners, Potential Investors)
  • Real Market Applications
  • Customer Input/Demand Validation
  • Operational Optimization
  • Talent Assessment/Validation
  • Corporate Venturing
  • Mergers/Acquisitions

ABA Value Proposition

Colorado's political and corporate leaders needed a solution to a Critical economic challenge.

The Challenge: A fast growing and successful Colorado or regional based company needs advisory board consultant services to move their company to the next level. Without access to a local network of executives willing to help with this growth, these companies often times become acquisition or funding targets from outside the region. This can create a company and executive trade deficit with other parts of the country.

  • Colorado is one of the most innovative and entrepreneurial markets in the United States. Many of the innovative companies are absorbed or acquired by out of state companies just as they gain enough critical mass to provide high paying jobs to the regional economy.
  • As a regional hub, we import pedigree executives from other parts of the country, then through either M&A activities or the closing of regional offices we export their jobs and careers back to larger markets.
  • Due to the quality of life that we enjoy in Colorado, these executives and companies want to stay in the region and see it prosper; however until now there was no formalized way to connect these "Top Tier" executives to the emerging companies who need executive consulting in Colorado.

The Solution: Provide a formalized and personal setting where a CEO or management team can ask the tough questions and get the experience, access and advice they need to help them catapult to the next level.

  • Provide access for emerging companies to senior level executives with a focus on building small regional companies into larger companies.
  • Provide a formal "vetting" process to align quality companies with quality advisors.
  • Provide a Top-Tier advisory board within a performance compensation framework.
  • Provide a quantifiable "chemistry" match between advisors and client's leadership team.
  • Provide a formalized process for managing all aspects of the non-fiduciary advisory board including the planning, follow-up, time and paperwork associated with managing an advisory board correctly.
  • Limited or no liability issues as these are not Boards of Governance/Directors and the Advisory Boards are not designed to deal with financial reporting obligations.

ABA's advisory board consultants have an average of 25+ years in fiduciary, non-fiduciary board roles or senior operating experience in marquee private and public corporations. They represent the best C-level talent and advisory board consultants in Colorado.
